Senior Technician

Get paid to pass on knowledge and skills, and receive funds to lower the cost to the event hosting the training. It's a win win, no matter which way you spin it.

The application process is designed to be completed by the senior technician offering the training. Follow the steps below to apply.

1

Create a Technician Profile

Before you can apply for grants, you must have a technician profile on LiveVictoria.com

If you don't have one already, Use this link to create a profile

Your profile can include a history, of past events you've worked, credits for albums and videos you've mixed, and general information about yourself.

If you are training a specific mentee, they should create a profile aswell

2

Find or List the Event Where the Training will Take Place

Use the search icon at the top right of LiveVictoria.com to search for the event. If you can't find it, click the plus icon in the top right of the site, and then chose the "List Event" option.

3

Fill out a Grant Request

On the event listing you found or created above, click the "Apply for Apprenticeship / Training Micro-grant" button, and fill out the brief application form.

Your application will be linked to the event listing, the senior tech's profile, and if applicable the profile for the junior tech who will be mentored. The more information you provide on these profiles stronger your application will be.

Some tips for your application:

  • Applications that are not selected after each voting round (every 2 weeks), will stay in the pool and may still be selected in the next round. Apply for an event as far in advance as you can to increase your chances.

  • Applications with lower funding request amounts have a better chance of being funded.

  • The closer your application aligns with the stated goals of supporting all-ages events, young techs, new venues, and resilience of the arts community, the more likely it is to succeed.

4

Provide Training

If your application is selected, we will let you know right away.

When providing training please:

  • Ensure the mentees receiving training get direct hands on experience with opportunity to get their hands on the controls.
  • Prepare a lesson plan in advance so you have a clear plan for the training.
  • Observe how your mentee(s) handle the experience, so you can provide a simple report.
  • If the event is a more open workshop style training ensure you get contact information for everyone that atteneded.
5

Report and Get Paid

Once the training is complete, please email a brief email report to [email protected]

Please include:

  • The date  / event of the training
  • A summary of what the training entailed
  • A summary of how the trainee(s) handled the training including strengths and areas for improvment for next time
  • A recommendation on next steps for the mentee's training, if any.

Once we have received the report, we contact the event presenter and verify that you discounted your invoice to the event presenter by an amount equal to half of the total application amount. Once verified, we will send you an e-transfer with the full amount of the micro grant funds
